In 2005, an affinity for gems brought Shauna to Southern California from her home state of Colorado to study at the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad. In 2012, she and her husband Aaron settled in La Mesa to raise their daughter Ava. Shauna immediately fell in love with the friendliness and community feel of the people in San Carlos and all the wonderful people she met during her 6 years working at Carl’s Jewelers.
In January of 2015, Shauna decided to realize her lifelong dream: owning her own business. The opportunity presented itself once the original owners retired and closed the store after 37 successful years. After an extensive 3 month remodel, Shauna hired an additional Graduate Gemologist, Laurin Freitas, a San Diego native. Equally passionate about diamonds, gemstones and design, they work collaboratively to bring you 25+ years of experience and knowledge to guide you every step of the way.
